Electric Press
- The Component for your Automation
- Extremely Energy Efficient
- Integration Friendly
- Drive Profile Repeatability
- All-electric
The SCHMIDT® ElectricPress is PLC controlled and does not require compressed
air or hydraulic pressure. It can be easily and quickly integrated into
automated systems.
The SCHMIDT® ElectricPress can be parameterized and loaded with up to 14
different drive sets; each with position, speed and
acceleration/deceleration ramp with the SCHMIDT® EP Assistant software.
Parameterized drive sets are stored inside the integrated motor electronics.
To optimize application specific assembly processes, drive sets can be
selected individually with any external PLC to create a displacement
profile. This requires only 4 outputs and 2 inputs.
Torque Press
- High-dynamic, powerful and low operation costs – these
are the advantages by using a torque motor in the new SCHMIDT® TorquePress
200 with 200 kN nominal force and 500 mm stroke.
The very high torque of the SCHMIDT® TorquePress 200 allows very high forces
without additional mechanical transmissions. The considerably higher speed
constancy compared to conventional drives entails a higher machine
precision.
In comparison to high ratio electric motor driven spindle presses the
SCHMIDT® TorquePress 200 has an essential lower self moment of inertia and
thereby a high dynamic. For this reason the run-up time from zero to working
speed is very short. The noise remains remarkably low with all load
conditions.
SCHMIDT® TorquePress 200 is permanent load stable due to its active
temperature-controlled cooling, like all ServoPresses of SCHMIDT Technology.
A mechanical overload protection becomes active in case allowable top force
of 250 kN has been exceeded.
Systems and Software

- Statistical Process Control (SPC), optional
Software - MoveTol
- SCHMIDT® MoveTol Patented offset of tolerance data
software for PressControl 600 and 5000
Assembled parts are subject to certain manufacturing tolerances. Measured
deviations of the parts result in an offset of the curves in the curve
window. The curves of the parts with the largest tolerance deviations may
then be situated outside of the defined tolerance limits and are classified
as “failed” part.
Using the function “Offset of tolerance data”, the tolerances of parts can
be taken into account. The tolerance windows and stroke tolerances are
offset in the graphic display by the offset value.
Software - OPC
- SCHMIDT® OPC Data exchange via the de facto automation
standard
In the field of automation, the data communication, using co-ordinated
systems and the reference level, is becoming increasingly important. OPC
defines a manufacturer-independent interface.
All parties participating in the communication must only support this
interface. The OPC-capable components can be combined just like elements of
a construction kit.
Example: Process visualization
OPC connects all production machines (with industry PC-based control [IPC])
of a production area to a process visualization. This achieves impressive
outcomes:
- Centralization of fault and operating messages
- Unique message system for all machines
- Individual user interface design
Software - PRC DataBase
- SCHMIDT® DataBase is an optional software for the modular
control system SCHMIDT® PressControl 5000 or SCHMIDT® PressControl 600. The
database software is used for storing and analyzing the data of the control
system – process specifications and process results – particularly under
quality assurance aspects.
SCHMIDT® DataBase differentiates between productive and archive database and
is equipped with a data export function. The target systems which are
relevant for the data export, e.g. quality management programs for
Statistical Process Control or Excel, will be operated via data interface.
The exported data will be stored in a format which is compatible with the
target application. Then the file will be read and processed by the target
application. The automated data export happens time-controlled,
periodically. The procedure of this periodical action will be done under
control of the Windows task schedule.
Automation & Complete Systems
Single Workstations Safety Concepts
- Two-hand safety switching
In basic design, SCHMIDT® PneumaticPress and HydropneumaticPress are
operated with
two- hand safety switching. The user must keep both switches in release
position. If one switch is released ahead of time, the press stroke is
interrupted.Light curtain with transparent protective housing
The light curtain control provides optimum safety to the user. The danger
area is protected with macrolon windows against contact. A light curtain
protects the access to the danger area on the side of insertion. The working
process is immediately interrupted and the press is stopped when
intervening.
Transparent protective housing with pneumatic sliding door
The version with pneumatically operated safety door is completely protected
with macrolon windows. First, the safety door is closed and locked via hand
or foot switch. This is two-channel monitored. As soon as the door is
locked, the press process is automatically started.
Slide Tables
- SCHMIDT® Slide tables are specially designed for the high
forces of press systems and where a position requires high precision against
an adjustable stop. It is an economic solution for tall parts and for
placement of parts outside of the danger area. They can be mounted,
depending on the type, both in longitudinal and lateral positions, and can
be adapted for automated processes.
Features: -
Cross roller bearings for high-precision guidance

CAN-DeviceNet Gateway
- The SCHMIDT® PressControl 5000 works with the fieldbus
system CANopen. In integrated systems, often data transfer with host control
units must be carried out via DeviceNet. For this purpose, SCHMIDT
Technology offers a CAN / DeviceNet gateway. It provides a data area, in
which both sides can write or from which both sides can read (on each side,
64 bit input and 64 bit output). Thus, an application-specific data exchange
can be realized. The gateway behaves on both sides as a slave. The update
rate of the CANopen side is 5 ms.
Different terminal modules are offered, if required, for the integration of
analog and digital signals. The connection of these modules is achieved via
CAN bus.
The communication with co-ordinated control system is realized via a
standardized interface program with SCHMIDT® PressControl 600.
All relevant system states as well as “failed” productions are transferred
from one control to another via a simple signal transfer.
PRC Gateway
- The SCHMIDT® PRC Gateway is especially designed to meet
the requirements of an automation and provides the opportunity to integrate
SCHMIDT® Press Systems very easy. The compact design with top hat rail
mounting for the switch cabinet, as well as the simple and service friendly
access to the electrical connections facilitate the handling. Moreover all
cables and connection assemblies are made of normed parts with standardized
assignments, therefore installation errors can be avoided by the operator.
The SCHMIDT® PRC Gateway serves as a link between SCHMIDT® Press Systems and
a system control (PLC). It has two CANopen-ports with 24 V-power supply for
the SCHMIDT® Control (Master) and the optional process data acquisition
(Slave). The integrated 24V-Interface with 16 in- and 16 outputs can not
only be used for communication with a system control, also further
applications can be realized.Furthermore the PRC Gateway has a connectivity
for the optional handwheel as handheld for the SCHMIDT® ServoPress or
TorquePress.
NC Axis
- The SCHMIDT® PressControl 5000 control unit offers a
large variety of automation possibilities. In total, the control unit allows
integrating up to 6 NC axis or SCHMIDT® ServoPress modules.
Thus, flexible automation of the assembly cells can be achieved.
We can design and manufacture XY tables to your specific requirements.
Rotary Indexing Systems
- SCHMIDT® rotary indexing systems are the basis for an
economic rationalization. All SCHMIDT® press types can be integrated in a
rotary indexing system. Mostly, the machines are designed for manual
loading. The machine designs are as varied as the requirements. Depending on
the requirements of the customer, an individual design is planned.
Rotary indexing systems with automatically rotary indexing plate
The press base PU10 with mounted, ground plate serves as the platform. Press
and rotary indexing table are aligned and pinned together. The indexer table
resist safely the occuring forces. The switch cabinet and the operating
elements are defined according to requirements.
Typically, other systems, such as a second press, automatic parts feeder or
automatic parts ejector, are integrated. Optionally, receptacles and tools
are delivered.
Cartesian Assembly Machine
- On the basis of high-precision SCHMIDT® ServoPress
modules in the press force range of 0.5 – 100 kN, a Cartesian assembly

Flow Sensors for Pressured-Air Use
SS 20.261
- Cost-effective alternative in pressurised systems up
to 10 bars
The thermal flow sensor SS 20.261 works by the hot wire
principle of a thermal anemometer. That's why the application in systems
with overpressure is very simple since only the temperature and pressure
values must be measured and calculated. The sensor measures the correct flow
velocity independently of the pressure (up to 10 bars). The linear output
signals of flow and temperature are individual current signals 4 ... 20 mA –
from 0 m/s to 40, 60 or 90 m/s. The measured value is output as standard
velocity which can be converted easily in the volume flow of the used tube
diameter.
SS 20.600
- High gas speeds, special gases or explosion
protection? The SS 20.600 can do (almost) everything!
The thermal SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.600 is the perfect solution for
demanding industrial applications. It can be used for a diverse range of
applications, such as compressed air monitoring, gas monitoring on process

SS 20.500
- The solution for flow measurement – even for dusty air
and gases. Highly precise and compact!
The SCHMIDT® thermal flow sensor SS 20.500 offers an ideal solution for
energy efficiency and complicated applications to include drying processes,
exhaust discharge, glovebox and fume cupboard flows, volume flow control and
many more. In addition to velocity the sensor also measures the process
temperature and both of these parameters are available as independent
outputs. This combined measurement capability reduces the number of tapping
points, easing installation and also offers an obvious cost benefit. Extreme
flow angles of 360 degrees axial and ± 45 degrees from vertical simplify
positioning in the gas flow. A wide measuring range of 0.06 up to 50 m/s and
traceable calibration via precision calibration ensures accuracy and
reliability of measurement.
